The T.V.Nagar School which was started in 1965 with 10 students and one teacher was adopted by the Rotary Club of Ambattur in 1980 as a long term service project.Rotarians were taken as members of the Educational Society and the Management of the School was taken over by the Rotary Club to ensure proper planning and effective control.
With financial assistance provided by the club ,the thatched sheds were replaced with permanent class rooms.Basic amenities such as clean water,sanitary facilities ,kitchen and dining hall,compound wall,recreational facilities and furniture were systematically added.
The built up area of the primary school building measures 10,000 sq feet and that of the high school 5000 sq.feet with all infrastructure with the support of rotarians and other charitable institutions.Thanks to the good will and rapport built up by Rtn.Vasu Bhatia, Dr Peter Berghaus of Rotary Club of Munster, Germany who has been visiting the club every year since 1992 and extending substantial financial assistance.
The elementary school was upgraded to middle school level during 1989-90 and to high school during Aug 1993 fulfilling all the statutory requirements of the Educational Department , Government of Tamil Nadu.Today this school has an impressive strength of students, both boys and girls drawn from the weakest section of the society around the area and provides high quality education ,free mid day meals right upto high school level.
The primary school has 230 students and 7 teachers. The high school has 264 students , one headmaster and 9 teachers, one computer lab assistant , a part time office assistant and three Group IV part time workers The quality of education can be judged from the results of the public examination from the Std X in which 100% results have been achieved during the past ten years.
Full credit goes to the Principal and the dedicated teachers for motivating students to excel.Students from our school have won prizes in the inter school competition from primary and high school levels held in the Vivekananda Vidyalaya. All children are medically examined at the time of admission in the school and follow up action is taken to give free treatment through Ambattur Rotary Hospital.
In our school, computer facilities are fully utilized to give free computer education using the Internet from standard VI to Std X.
An LCD projector was acquired by the school thanks for the funds provided by the Rotary Club of Munster Germany.
Audio visual educational supplements are used in the primary level through the movie theatre with TV and CD’s, educational cassettes on various subjects are screened during all science classes for students of standard VI to X.The Library is fully furnished and approximately 2000 books both in English and Tamil are available for use by the children.
Educational assistance is given to rank holders in every class and scholarships for higher studies after Std X is given to deserving students under "VIDYA DAAN SCHOLARSHIP". Physical education is given importance and prizes in sports and cultural activities are given during school annual day functions.
